This is a pre-order item that will be available to pick up in-store in the spring. You will receive an email confirmation when you place your order, and another email in the spring when they are ready for pick-up.
Pick-Up Info
You will receive an email when your plants are ready for pick-up in the spring. Simply come to the front desk with your pick-up information, and we will pull your plants from the greenhouse where they have been waiting patiently for you!
Plants must be picked up within 14 days of notification. Orders that are not picked up in that time will be released for re-sale, and you will not receive a refund. If you are unable to pick up your plants during that time, please let us know ASAP.
These aren't your grandma's geraniums! Calliope Geraniums are a super improved geranium that produce bloom after bloom with vibrant colors. They are quite literally the #1 variety of geranium on the market, and that's why we love them at In The Garden.
Geraniums are a beloved annual flower, with large globes of flowers on the end of sturdy stems. Their bright, jewel-toned blooms attract all sorts of pollinators, especially hummingbirds.
Calliope Geraniums have a somewhat trailing habit, making them perfect to add intense color to hanging baskets and porch pots. John always takes some home to put in his porch pots with his favorite vining plants: Silver Falls dichondra, scaevola (fan flower), bacopa (hyssop), and vinca vine. These 1/2 gallon planter pots are perfect to build your own combo baskets and planters!
Calliope Cascade Violet is a one-of-a-kind geranium, with neon pink-purple blooms that are almost fluorescent, making it super attractive to hummingbirds. It trails (or cascades) even more than the Calliope Large Dark Red variety, and is always in bloom through the whole hot summer. John has been using them on his patio for several years to attract hummingbirds so that he doesn't have to mess with a feeder.
Geraniums are very easy to grow and prefer to dry out between waterings. They bloom best in bright light conditions, but can tolerate a bit of shade. To get the maximum amount of blooms from each plant, deadhead faded flowers once a week while you fertilize with Fox Farm Big Bloom liquid fertilizer. Using Happy Frog potting soil will also ensure good drainage with added plant food.
Geraniums make a great temporary house plant while we wait for spring to officially arrive. Make sure to put them in a bright, sunny window until all danger of frost is past. When you're ready to move them out, acclimate them to direct sunlight outside for a few hours a day before moving them to their final, full sun location.
