Grow your own butterflies with our Build Your Own Pollinator Pot Workshop!
This workshop is open to kids and adults and will take place on Wednesday, June 10 at 9AM at In The Garden Landscaping & Garden Center.
At the workshop, you'll learn about what types of flowers are best for butterflies and why butterfly host plants are so important. Then you'll get to plant up three host plant herbs and three pollinator-friendly flowers in a porch pot, and add a little decorative butterfly. Take it home and set it in full sun and wait for the magic to happen!
Zinnias, Gazanias, and Trailing Vinca attract and feed butterflies, while herbs like Dill, Fennel, and Parsley provide host plants for Black Swallowtail Butterflies to lay their eggs and feed caterpillars. They provide food for many other important pollinators like native bees, moths, and hummingbirds.
If you see the leaves start to disappear, don't panic! It could be a caterpillar getting big enough to start forming a chrysalis. Look underneath leaves and on stems for a green or brown chrysalis, and check each day to watch it turn. In 10-20 days, you will have a butterfly!
Build your own Pollinator Paradise at our workshop and watch the butterfly lifecycle happen right in front of your eyes!
Space is limited, so reserve a spot in the workshop today.
